College Cost Reduction Act of 2007


The US House of Representatives passed new legislation last year that Democratic majority leaders claim is the largest college student aid package since the 1944 GI Bill. In reality, the College Cost Reduction Act of 2007 will do little to alleviate the financial burden for millions of college students who are confronting skyrocketing tuition costs and a crushing level of student loan debt.

Tuition Costs are sky rocketing

Did you know education costs in the U.S. have increased by 82 percent in the last decade alone?

Except for its military academies, the U.S. national government does not directly support Higher Education. Instead it has offered programs of loans and grants.

There are other develop nations who directly support higher education, but not the United States.

According to the washington post, textbook prices have been rising at double the rate of inflation for the past two decades, according to a Government Accountability Office study. In Virginia, more than 40 percent of students surveyed by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia said they sometimes just do without.
